Bruno and Knut in the Woods -5

Suddenly, Knut stopped. He heard something whimpering.

Listening closely, he realized that the whimpering was not due to joy but to agony and pain.

Not knowing what to do and a bit afraid now, Knut made his way back to Bruno, careful to remember the place where the whimpering sound came from.

It was really hard work to wake up Bruno. Knut even had to jump on the bear's stomach. As it was still stuffed, this action finally was successful.

When Bruno realized that Knut was totally out of his head, he was wide awake very quickly. He sensed that something very serious was happening.

Knut dragged Bruno back into the forest. Soon, it was not necessary any more to show Bruno the way: He could hear the sound of agony himself and got really worried. It did not sound good at all. Bruno hurried. Little Knut was hiding behind Bruno.

When Bruno saw where the sound came from, he was shocked: A tiny fox was lying on the floor. The worst thing was that he was not only covered with dirt but also with blood. Indeed, the fox was still bleeding. Bruno thought heavily what to do now. Obviously, he had to rescue the sweet fox and also obviously, he must not touch a wounded animal with bare paws. Thinking, it occurred to him that he could use the blankets and sheets they had brought for their picnic.
